Kim Carson, Conductor
Originally from Kidder, MO, Kim Carson graduated from Missouri Western State University in 2008 with a B.S. in Vocal Music Education and Piano Performance. Following graduation, Kim began her career at Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, MO where she led the Irish singers to their first ever Missouri Music Educator’s Convention performance, one of the highest honors in the state. In 2012, Kim accepted her current position at Truman High School in Independence, MO. While there, Kim has watched her groups excel at the district and state level and was also recognized as an outstanding music educator statewide by her peers. She received her M.M. in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University in 2015 and resides in Independence with her husband, Michael.
Truman High School
Truman High School, located just outside of Kansas City, serves 1600 students grades 9-12. The Concert Choir is one of six performing choirs at Truman, which have received recognition at the local, state and national levels for outstanding performances. The group is delighted to perform in this historic venue.
Linda Mann, Accompanist
Linda Mann began accompanying in the 7th grade. She earned a BME degree and Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists, and received a Ministry of Music Award of Distinction from the National Religious Music Week Alliance in 2003 for developing and maintaining one of the nation’s finest church music programs. This is her 24th year as accompanist at Truman High School, and she directs the bell choirs and plays for Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church and the Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus. Linda has been married for 43 years to Hoot Mann and has been blessed with three children and seven grandchildren. She is devoted to using music to better the world and caring for the earth and its creatures.
