Deborah Chandler, Conductor

Deborah Chandler is the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Louisiana Monroe. She is the founding conductor of the Monroe Symphony Chorus, hosts a weekly radio show on KEDM public radio, and serves as Director of Music at Northminster Church in Monroe.

Dr. Chandler received her graduate degrees in music education/conducting at Florida State University, Tallahassee. She served as Director of Music in the Presbyterian denomination for over eighteen years before moving to Louisiana. Recently, Dr. Chandler was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award by CenturyLink, Inc., the Outstanding Service to the Arts in Northeast Louisiana and the University of Louisiana Monroe Foundation Award for Excellence in Creative and Artistic Activity.

Dr. Chandler remains active as a clinician, guest conductor, and adjudicator.
