Michael J. Glasgow, Conductor

Michael J. Glasgow’s passionate musicianship and dynamic personality have brought him to the podium for more than 100 events in the USA and abroad. An award-winning composer, he is regularly commissioned for new choral, orchestral, and handbell works. His first published choral octavo, Welcome the King, was premiered by VocalEssence of Minneapolis.

In addition to freelance composing and conducting, Glasgow has served as Minister of Music at North Raleigh United Methodist Church (Raleigh, NC) since 1998. His Requiem premiered in worship there on April 8, 2001, and many of tonight’s performers sing with the NRUMC Chancel Choir, for whom it was composed.

Glasgow serves as the Bass Section Leader for the North Carolina Master Chorale, and conducts the Tar River Chorus (Rocky Mount, NC). Members of both groups are performing this evening.
