J. Edmund Hughes, Conductor

Dr. J. Edmund Hughes, Adjunct Professor at the University of Puget Sound, retired from the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Music Faculty in 2011 after a 40-year teaching career.

His choirs from Tucson High School, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Phoenix College and CGCC performed at ACDA, MENC and AMEA conventions. His educational recognitions include Arizona Outstanding Choral Educator Award (ACDA), Arizona Music Educator of the Year (AMEA), Lifetime Achievement Award (AMEA) and the first Lifetime Achievement Award granted by the University of Arizona Choral Music Department.

A part-time composer, Ed has several choral compositions in print, published through Santa Barbara Music, Colla Voce Music, and Walton Music. All of his degrees are from the University of Arizona with doctoral studies at the University of Southern California.
