Boyd Owen, Tenor

Boyd Owen is a proud Australian/New Zealander, holding dual-citizenship of both countries. This season he returned to his hometown to debut the role of Percy in Anna Bolena, with Melbourne Opera. In 2016 he debuted with Maggio Musical Fiorentino, Opera Florence, singing Lindoro in L’Italiana in Algeri. He also debutedwithTeatroMunicipale di Piacenza and TeatroAlghieri di Ravenna singing Don Narcisoin Il Turco in Italia. Other roles in Italy include: Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Peter Quint inThe Turn of the Screw, bothwith TeatroComunale di Bologna; Prince Ramiro in La Cenerentola with Teatrodell’OperaGiocosa; and Nemorino in L’ElisirD’Amore for the SpazioMusicaOpera and Concert Summer Season. His concert work includesMessiah,Puccini’s Messa di Gloriaand CarminaBurana, all performed in Shanghai, China; and Britten’s Ballad of HeroeswithTeatroComunale di Bologna. He was a semi-finalist in the Hans Garbor Belvedere international singing competition, in Amsterdam, and won second prizes in the Operatic Aria, Sydney, the Herald Sun Aria, Melbourne, and the New Zealand Aria opera competitions. CarminaBurana, with MidAmerica Productions, marks his debut at Carnegie Halland also in New York.
