Michael Short, Conductor

Michael Short, founder of the Orange Community Master Chorale, has been Director of Choral Activities at Orange High School and Music Director at First United Methodist Church over thirty years. He is currently Community Chorus Repertoire & Standards Chair for the Western Division of the American Choral Directors Association.

Among many recognitions Mr. Short has received are the Bravo Award from the Los Angeles Music Center; Chapman University’s Alumnus of the Year and Lifetime Achievement in the Arts; Teacher of the Year for OUSD and City of Orange Citizen of the Year.

Mr. Short’s choirs have performed with Shania Twain, Josh Groban, Bare Naked Ladies, Kenny Loggins; appeared in Ed Wood and Sister Act 2 and on the soundtrack for With Great Power:  The Stan Lee Story. This is Mr. Short’s third appearance at Carnegie.

Orange Community Master Chorale

The ensemble comprises performers from Orange County, California and other parts of the country, many of whom come together for a variety of appearances during the year that reach audiences numbering in the thousands. They have toured extensively in Europe, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland and Canada, performing in some of the most venerable venues in the world and in 2009, presented Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna here in Carnegie Hall.
